Living in the digital age requires following the latest trends and gaining a competitive edge.

Every industry can significantly benefit and experience tremendous growth from introducing different innovations, and this also applies to the real estate business.

Stats show that mobile internet accounts for almost 52% of global online traffic. What’s even more important is that people use their smart mobile devices to find out everything they’re interested in. In other words, instead of visiting real estate company’s offices in order to find the property that meets their requirements, those in search of a house or apartment resort to real estate mobile apps.

Virtual house tours are immensely popular as they allow people to see and explore a number of properties in a short time, before shortlisting the ones they want to visit and see in person.

And they can additionally save time by simply checking out listings on real estate mobile apps.

Finally, having an app can also help real estate agents attract the right customers and present their offer in the best manner.

1. Facilitate the Login Process

Potential buyers should be allowed to create an account so that they can save the property they like or take other actions. The same goes for sellers who should have an opportunity to see how popular their offer is.

It’s best to enable the signup and login process through social media accounts such as Facebook or Google. That way, they won’t have to come up with a password, and the process itself is much shorter and easier. If we bear in mind that complex registration forms are bad for user experience, this approach can prevent a high abandonment rate.

It’s also a good idea to offer different registration options, and phone number authorization and verification will provide an additional layer of security.

Besides making it easier for users, having as much personal information about them as possible also allows real estate agents to personalize and enhance their service.

2. Add Listings

This is a crucial feature of every real estate app, as 99% of millennials and 90% of baby boomers start their property hunting online.

Potential customers should be able to see all the listings a real estate agency has in its portfolio. Information such as a property description, its tax history, and an estimated value is required.

It’s a good idea to add an interactive map, together with Map APIs, as that will allow customers not only to see where the property is situated but also to obtain extra information about the neighborhood such as public transport, restaurants, schools, kindergartens, and more.

A property search option with a number of parameters is a must, too. This way, customers will be able to filter out certain properties based on their available budget, preferred location, or property type.

3. Include Property Videos

Listings are incomplete without images and videos, as potential buyers want to see a property they’re interested in from different angles and perspectives.

The real estate market is fiercely competitive, which means that agents need to find a way to differentiate themselves and capture the attention of their potential customers.

Video is a perfect medium for this, as it makes it possible to employ, for example, 4K technology and storytelling. First of all, real estate heavily relies on aesthetics and visual appeal for presenting properties in the best light, and that means including high-quality videos that will create a wow effect.

Secondly, as purchasing a home is a highly emotional experience, it’s crucial to humanize the selling approach and help potential customers visualize themselves in a certain house or apartment. Storytelling paired with video is the right way to make this work.

4. Implement a Chatbot

Chatbots have become an essential element of customer experience.

Real estate agents can rely on these smart algorithms to automatically respond to any common questions that buyers and sellers have, collect the information about leads, schedule meetings and property viewings, and, generally speaking, increase customer engagement.

Modern apps have an AI component that makes chatbots conversational and capable of handling even more complex queries. Besides, thanks to their ability to collect and process huge amounts of customer information, they can also personalize their messaging and offer tailored experiences to customers.

5. Enable Social Media Integration

People spend a great deal of time on social media these days, which is why integrating a real estate mobile app with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other channels is important.

The main goal of a social media marketing strategy should be to get traffic to a real estate website or mobile app. That way, when a potential customer sees a certain property on Facebook or Instagram, they could easily check it out on the mobile app, get more information about it, and get in touch with the agent. And all this with no more than a click or two.

Similarly, this integration makes sharing content on social media quick and easy, meaning that potential customers can share the properties they like with their network.

6. Implement a Price Calculator

As the price is usually the most important factor when it comes to making a purchasing decision, potential customers are curious to find out how much a particular property costs when a loan interest in different banks is included.

In order to be useful, this calculator should allow customers to pick the property price, their down payment, the interest, and the loan’s term.

7. Add a Comparison Feature

It’s important to allow potential customers to compare similar properties and understand their true cost and value. That way, they will have a much better insight into which one matches their requirements so they can make their purchasing decision faster.

Subsequently, they will be able to figure out which amenities or features they’re willing to sacrifice and which ones they don’t want to give up.

Both real estate agents and their customers can benefit greatly from using a mobile app. It could streamline communication between them, improve user experience, and facilitate the property search, promotion, and purchasing process.

Whether you are a business trying to sell a product, an individual showing off your art or a blogger looking to educate the world, a website is important. There are several benefits of having a website for a company, and that is why so many companies are online today. One of the biggest decisions for someone with a website is to decide which web host to use.

A web host is extremely important as they help your website to actually be seen on the internet by visitors and potential customers. There are many options out there, but they are not created equally.
Each has their own pros, cons, benefits and drawbacks. For example, some will operate and shared servers, while some will utilize dedicated servers for better results (visit AccuWeb Hosting page to learn more). So how do you choose which is the right web host for you with so many potential choices?

With that in mind, this article is going to go over a few helpful tips when it comes to choosing the right web host in 2020.

Do Your Homework

The first tip to choosing the right provider is to do your homework. You need to get online and look at what options there are, their reputation and the features they include. You also need to have a clear understanding of your own needs as a company or individual.

For example, there are different types of hosting from shared hosting, to dedicated servers, to VPS. The option you go with will depend on your needs, how many visitors you expect and your budget. Life as a small business owner can be difficult, so take your time to make an informed decision. Think about all you want to have on your site (from videos, to user content etc…), and find a hosting provider who can help.

While most people will gravitate towards largely looking at price, it is important to compare all of the features. If you simply go with the cheapest option, without consulting other options, you could be missing out. If you can, try to utilize a couple of free trials to test out the different options and see which you prefer.

Scalability is Key

Whenever you are deciding on a hosting provider, be sure to have scalability in mind. When a website is starting out, it will likely have minimal visitors and won’t need a robust dedicated server to handle the traffic. If you have a server that goes far beyond your needs, you could end up wasting a lot of money.

However, as your website and number of visitors rises, you will indeed need to accommodate that growth. If not, your site could be incredibly laggy or might even crash, thus driving a lot of people away.

Ensure that the hosting provider has good scalability, so you can easily change your plan depending on your needs. Switching hosting providers over and over to keep up with the changing scalability demands of your company can be exhausting. Scaling up or down should be quick and easy to ensure your needs are always met.

Don’t Forget About Customer Support

Choosing the right web host

If you are relatively new when it comes to owning and operating a website, it is a good idea to work with a provider that offers great support. You will likely have questions and concerns, and getting them dealt with quickly and successfully is always a good thing. The company should offer multiple options to reach out to them, and provide speedy and helpful responses.

Even if you have experience with this sort of thing, you still want a provider that offers great support. There is nothing worse than having an issue and having to wait days to hear back, only to have the response not help you at all. This is especially true when the issue or error is costing you a lot of visitors and money at the same time.

In conclusion, we hope that this blog post has been able to help you choose the right web host for your needs.

Hiring someone for doing the legwork for creating an app can be difficult. It is more difficult for people who are doing it for the very first time. It may sound a little unpleasant but it takes some context to even hire a developer. Creating an app is a complex task and requires a series of steps. In these circumstances hiring someone for the development work can be tricky. Although worry not because we ourselves are an app development company which caters to clients from the USA majorly. Therefore in this article, we have tried to tell you about all the ways you can get your desired candidate. Therefore to know how to hire a programmer in 2020 read down the article below.

Skills needed to become a Developer in the USA

Programming Languages

Programming Languages have always been at the core of development. It is one of the foundations on How to Hire a Programmer. It is the core foundation of any developer and the person you are hiring must have clear logic. There is a multitude of languages that are available for a developer to use. Each of the languages brings its own set of convenience and challenges alongside. Although, taking up new languages and working with the old is very common in development. Therefore, below are some important old as well as new languages that one can look for in their prospective candidate.

Note: We have mentioned some of the most popular. Although, the basis on which you hire solely depends on what you seek.

Python

Python

A lot of people think that Python is relatively newer to the market. Although, the first iteration of the language was launched in the year 1991. It was created by Guido

Van Rossum and this one is an interpreted, high-level general-purpose language. The language has many features such as functional programming, aspect-oriented programming etc. The reason why the language is gaining so much momentum is that it is very versatile and can be used for just about any sort of development.

Java

Java

Java is among the much-renowned languages of this century. The language is used majorly in all small and big firms. Also, it is often classified as an important skill set. It is an object-oriented language and much of the earlier app development was done using the language. The major reason why the language was used so much was because of platform independence. It’s code worked on the concept of WORA(Write once read anywhere). This enabled the developers to do a lot more that wasn’t just specific to a particular system.

C/C++

C/C++

C/C++ will take you back to the elementary age. C++ is the upgraded version of C. Both of these languages are still looked up and is widely used in many scenarios(including its latest version C#). C is a procedural language while C++ is a high-level language with the facility of classes added to it. This made programming more modular and helped developers to code clean and clutter-free. The initial release of C happened in 1972 and C++ dropped in the year 1985. Both of these languages have been widely used by a plethora of companies and developers until now. In fact, many new languages and frameworks have been developed using the language. They may be old but still relevant.

Javascript

Javascript

Javascript, also known by the name JS is a very popular language in the frontend development domain. One can also say that it is the part of the holy trinity of web development where HTML and CSS are the other two. If you are into web development, it is a programming language that is of utmost importance. This one is an interpreted programming language that is multi-paradigm and just-in-time compiled. It is among the core technologies for world wide web and having a deep knowledge about this can be a stellar skillset.

Swift

Swift

Swift is majorly used in the development of iOS applications. It is a general-purpose, multi-paradigm, compiled programming language that was developed by Apple itself. The language was developed to work with Apple’s framework which is Cocoa and Cocoa Touch Framework. The language was launched in the year 2014. In fact, if you have any code written on the previous versions then one can use the migration functionality in Xcode.

Golang

Golang

The language Golang or Go first appeared in the year 2009. The language was developed by Google. Some of the key people who were involved with the development are Robert Griesemer, Rob Pike, and Ken Thompson. It is a statically typed compiled programming language. It is quite similar to C but comes with additional features like memory safety, garbage collection, structural typing, and CSP-Style concurrency.

R

R language

A lot of people didn’t know about it to the point where Data Analytics has become this mainstream. R is a programming language that is used for statistical computing. The language is widely used by many statisticians and data miners. It can also be called a free software environment. The language was first launched in the year 1993 and is being used by a specific category of people. This is a language that is very much in demand but whether you wish to hire someone with this skill is entirely up to your choice.

PHP

Php

This is among the most commonly used languages for web development. It is a general-purpose scripting language. The language first appeared in the year 1995. The code for PHP is generally used for creating the backend of websites. The code for this is generally used for creating the backend of a website. The language is very popular and there are very few chances that this will fade away. In fact, it is so common that most people begin to learn how to program their websites using it.

Kotlin

Kotlin How to find a programmer in 2020

Kotlin is a cross-platform language that is statically typed with type inference. The language is made so that it can operate fully with Java and JVM. It is a multi-paradigm language that was developed by Jetbrains. The language first appeared in the year 2011. It is object-oriented and considered better than Java on many occasions.

It is a much-preferred language for Android and if you are looking for an Android this could make the criteria.

Dart

Dart How to find a programmer in 2020

DART was first launched in the year 2011. Although, it became a lot popular recently because of the framework launched by Google known by the name Flutter. This one is a client-optimised programming language that can be used for multiple platforms. This can be in the skill set if you are thinking of working with flutter and churn out applications using it.

Frameworks

There are multiple frameworks that one can use. These frameworks have been there for quite a while and are a real help for any programmer. They may not be a great reason to hire at least for a fresher. Although, if you are hiring an experienced programmer for freelance work then it is a necessary skill. These frameworks let you take maximum advantage of any language and enables you to write code, compile, run, and test(to a certain degree) at the same time. The frameworks can be mainly divided into two parts.

Frameworks for Backend

Django

Django How to find a programmer in 2020

Django uses Python for developing applications. It is a Model-View-Template framework. This one is a free and open-source framework that is being maintained by Django Software Foundation. The initial release of the framework was in the year 2005. Although, it was created 2 years earlier in 2003. Many big companies use the framework for development. Some of them are Google, Youtube, Instagram, Mozilla etc. It is a web-based framework and is being effectively used in the industry.

Laravel

Laravel How to find a programmer in 2020

Laravel is another really popular framework that is being used for PHP development. It works on the architectural pattern of model-view-controller. It offers a variety of great features and makes the development in PHP more secure and modular. The initial release of the framework was in the year 2011. This was designed as an alternative to CodeIgnitor Framework for authentication and authorisation in which the other framework failed. The first iteration of the framework gave access to things like localisation, models, authentication, views, session, and other things.

Note: There can be many other names that can be mentioned in the list. Although, we feel that these are some of the best.

Frameworks for Frontend

React Native

React Native

React Native is among the most popular framework that is used to create a frontend for hybrid application. The framework allows the developer to write code for Android, iOS, Web, and UWP. The framework was created by Facebook to make their application better. The initial release of the application took place in the year 2015. It is a successor to ReactJS and is being widely used by many companies for development. This framework does not make use of HTML or CSS rather most of the coding is done using JAVA, Objective C, and Swift. This is also the reason why the language is so flexible.

Angular

Angular How to find a programmer in 2020

Angular is another very popular framework that is used for creating frontend. It is an open-source web application framework that is based on Typescript. The development team for the framework was led by Google and a community of other individuals. The initial release of the framework happened in the year 2016 and currently, it is running its 9th version. It is a widely used framework in the market and can be considered an appropriate skill for a deserving candidate.

Flutter

Flutter How to find a programmer in 2020

Flutter is Google’s response to Facebook after they launched to React Native. It is not as popular as React Native but the future is quite promising with this framework. The sole reason why this has been mentioned is that it is a great framework. This one provides 100% code reusability among different platforms. Also, it comes with a decent amount of features. The great widgets and Hot Reload is some of the major highlights of this framework.

Technologies

Internet of Things

Internet of Things

The definition of IoT or Internet of Things can be quite complex. Although in simplicity one can define it as creating an app that can control a device. This is the most profound usage of IoT as a technology in today’s date. The term evolved when a plethora of other technologies came together. Some of these are real-time analytics, machine learning, embedded systems, commodity sensors etc. This technology has brought out the emergence of smart devices. Also, a lot of people are working in the stream.

Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning

AI How to find a programmer in 2020

Artificial Intelligence or Machine Intelligence is termed as any sort of intelligence that can be shown by a machine or a computer system. It has been a buzzword for decades and a lot of work has been done in the field. Although in contrast to what some people might not believe but the technology is already at play. Some of the examples of today’s implementation of AI can be stated as Speech Recognition, Automated Driver Systems, Simulations, Games etc. The technology may not be as strong or vicious as Skynet but there are a whole lot of applications that can be seen.

Cloud Services

Cloud Services How to find a programmer in 2020

A couple of years back, it wasn’t a serious skill since a limited amount of services took the use of the server. Although, after the emergence of applications, a lot of these started to make use of them. This led to many on-demand dedicated services like Amazon AWS, Azure, and many more like it. To work effectively with these, the developer using them as a resource must know to inculcate them better in an app. It is an essential skill these days and can be considered seriously for hiring a programmer in 2020.

Other Miscellaneous Skills

Other Miscellaneous Skills How to Hire a programmer in 2020

Analytical Skills: A lot of freshers are tested for their analytical abilities. It is essential for the trade since it often requires breaking down complex ideas. In fact, I would go as far as to say that coding is logical creativity. It requires a lot of mental exercises to break complex features into something more conceivable. This requires the desired candidate to have analytical skills. The best way to test it is by checking the aptitude of the candidate in terms of logical abilities.

Verbal & Communication Skill: These are almost mandatory skills for a developer to have. It may not be needed strongly but to the extent where one can express him/herself. The fluency is generally needed for English which is more of a global language. Although, this is one quality that can be checked during the interview.

Team Management: Well, a lot of movies show prodigies making an entire app overnight. I don’t know in which dimension that can happen where one can roll out a full-fledged app in a night but this isn’t exactly the case. It takes a team to complete a full-fledged application and a decent amount of skills. This requires coherence, therefore, it becomes a little essential to check the innate quality of a fresher to be in a team and an experienced developer to lead a team in times of need.

Methodologies(like DevOps): Well, there are two prominent methodologies in the industry: Agile and DevOps. If you are a big company then it can be an essential part of your hiring process especially if you are considering an experienced person. In a big enterprise, it becomes essential that both the developers and the testers can work hand in hand. By using these methodologies it is made possible since all the employees contribute to a single project on a daily basis. This requires the capability of any employees to work with these methodologies effectively.

Model of Hiring

Models of Hiring

Fixed Price: This kind of model is best for people who have fixed specifications and they won’t change over time. You must have a clear and defined feature list for this one. In this, the development team would generally quote a price and after that price will be paid in instalments every time a milestone is completed. Make sure to go for this only if you don’t have fixed and it won’t change over time.

Hourly Development: This kind of pricing methodology is used whenever a company hires someone for a certain chore. Suppose you already have an app which lacks certain features or simply needs some bug correction. Well, in these circumstances, it is better to hire a couple of developers despite an entire team. In this, you will be paying for the hourly wage of a developer. It can be expensive in the long run but is quite effective if you need to hire for small work.

Phase Payment: It is among the most effective methods of paying. In this method, the client and the development firm divides the work into phases and the price of reaching that particular milestone. It is one of the most effective ways since here if you are unsatisfied with a company’s work then you are not stuck. All you have to do is just take the work to that point, pay up, and leave.

Dedicated Team: It is quite similar to hourly development. Although despite hiring a single or a couple of developers, one can hire an entire team. Here, one can get a team of developers to work on an entire project or piece of work. It is another great way of getting your work done especially if the beta version of your app is complete.

Strategies to Find an App Developer in 2020

Strategies to find an app developer in 2020

Referrals: This is one of the most common ways a recruiter finds out new developers for their firms. A lot of employees refer their known peers to the HR department of their company. This method works well since you have your previous employee as the guarantee. Also, the selection of the candidate depends on his/her capabilities.

It is more of a symbiotic way where everyone takes benefits. In fact, this can also be done on a small scale where you can get a developer to work for you which has been referred to by your peers. The developer will already have been tested by your friends and you can cross-review his/her previous work.

Freelance Platforms: There are multiple freelance platforms from where one can hire a dev for themselves. There are websites like Freelancer and Upwork that allows you to do that. There you can find a plethora of freelancers who are well-versed with different technologies. Also, the communities provide proper reviews and projects they have worked on. These websites also provide freelancers that charge differently in terms of an hourly rate.

Developer Conference & Meetups: Well, there are many developer’s conferences and meetups that happen in every major city. These conventions are a great place to hire someone. Here you can find candidates who might be working or have worked for stellar ventures. In fact, if you have a specific idea in mind there are chances that you most likely get someone for your odd requirement.

Developer Communities & Forums: There are multiple online communities like StackOverflow, XDA Developers, Github etc. where one can find suited developers. There can be times where you might have to approach the candidates by yourself. Although, often a lot of programmers provide their good work on the forums and expect to get hired by a decent firm.

LinkedIn: LinkedIn is an entire service that has been made to cater to corporate employees. It is more of a social media for people who are already employed or looking forward to employment. Here you can find a profile for almost every company and also the employees who are working there. LinkedIn has become one of the major ways of hiring an employee than any other platform.

Quora: Chances of hiring a developer that can be trusted from Quora might be questionable. Although, it is one common forum where a lot of questions are answered. Some of them are related to technology and development. In these threads, one might be capable of finding a suitor for your work. In fact, some people often post regarding their availability or the work they do.

Social Media: If we talk about Social Media then there are three major platforms: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Each of these social media platforms can be compared to an online developers forum. Why? Well, there are specific pages on these websites where people post their requirements upon joining and they get replies from other interested developers on the same.

Hackathon: This is one way how many big tech giants are hiring developers. In fact, some websites provide a platform to these companies for hiring by making use of hackathons. Some of these can be named as HackerRank, Codechef, CoderByte, HackerEarth etc. The developers create a personal profile and based on their ranking & scores, one can decide whether to hire him/her or not.

Staffing Agencies: These are nothing but other talent acquisition companies that do the work of hiring on behalf of other companies. These agencies generally work with many companies supplying them candidates and if their candidate is selected and sticks for a while then they get the referral money.

Job Boards: Job Boards are simply places where one can post that they are looking for a job. A lot of countries have their specific job boards and also multiple companies hire using them. The user might put up his qualifications and work there. From there onwards, any company can hire a prospective candidate. Also, the candidate can find a suitable company for him/herself.

Hiring Marketplace: There is a variety of marketplace where one can hire a developer for freelance. These will take a few seconds and based on your requirement will get you someone who is an expert in the field. Some of the websites where you can do so are Developersforhire, Toptal, Gigster, Github Job etc. These kinds of websites are great if you have a specific job to complete.

There is often a lot of hustle whenever something new hits the market. It is of no doubt that with time, a lot of things have been completely replaced. It is important since for instance, the earliest means to store something was a Floppy Disk but who could’ve thought about Cloud. Likewise, every trend has its life and prolongs for a time. Although, the real question is,” Are PWAs capable of replacing native apps?”. Well, the question is quite stipulated and there is no confirmation that it is bound to happen. Therefore, it would be better that we investigate the situation by working on facts and figure out the necessary probability because everything is possible.

What are PWAs or Progressive Web Apps?

PWAs are web applications that behave like an application. The concept has been devised to cater to the laptop and desktop user. Although, on a smartphone or tablet, a PWA looks exactly like an application. Although, if you are opening it on a laptop or any machine like that the overall experience would be quite close to a website. There are a couple of advantages because of which PWAs are considered. Below we have mentioned some, therefore, just check them out.

  • They don’t need any kind of installation. The user just needs to enter the URL in the address bar and voila. They also give the user the capability to pin them onto the screen of the browser.
  • A PWA generally pre-caches some of the aspects of the website. Therefore, if you suddenly go offline then at least some of the features would be working irrespective of the cell phone coverage.
  • These are very lightweight in comparison to an application. This is the reason that the user experience is quite fluid in comparison to an app. Some even say that the app scroll is smoother in case of a PWA.
  • PWAs, unlike a traditional website, have the capability to interact with the hardware of your device. It gets the capability to use features like push notifications.

There can be many advantages to getting a PWA. Although, these are some mainstream advantages that one can have if they have a PWA.

What are the advantages of having a Native App?

Native Apps are generally considered to be the best experience in terms of UI/UX. Although, these two depends on the efficiency of your developers. Although, native apps are built from scratch which means that the developer has the capability to make the app whatever he/she can. This gets ample advantage in terms of functionality, features, and usability. The reason is simple because everything is made in accordance with whatever you have in mind. Although, to make it more concise below are the advantages of having a native app.

  • Great Performance: Unlike a hybrid application, these native apps are created for the platform. This means that the usability is going to translate into something better as it will be made in accordance with the platform. This offers higher device usability and more capability for your app to interact with the hardware.
  • Security: This is among the most important reason why people choose to go for native apps. As mentioned before these apps are made from scratch, it also means that one can design the app to be as secure as possible. Most of the web apps are created using CSS, HTML, and Javascript which are quite vulnerable. Therefore, a native app gets you better security options.
  • Interactive and Intuitive Design: This is the major reason why a lot of people consider getting a native app made. These apps feel so natural in terms of usage because they inherit a lot of capabilities from the OS’s interface. Since these applications are platform-specific, therefore, they stick to the guidelines and provides a superior interactive as well as intuitive design.
  • Features: In terms of hardware, smartphones have so many devices that can be used along with the apps. Along, to take the full benefit one needs to get a native app built to access the full potential. Some of these features are a camera, device, GPS etc.
  • Fewer Bugs: This will only work well if you are creating your app for a single platform be it Android, iOS, or Web. In case, if you are going for more than one then they are completely different. Therefore, since the developers are only focusing on a single platform, therefore, it becomes easy for them to manage bugs.

Challenges related to the development of a Native App

  • Flexibility: There is no flexibility whenever we are talking about the development of native apps. Native App development is done on a particular platform be it Android, iOS, and Website. In case, if you are developing for two different platforms then you need to separate teams.
  • Time-Consuming: As we have already discussed that it needs a separate team for development, therefore, the time required to complete the whole project in every platform will take time.
  • Expensive: Two separate teams means more money. Therefore, the usual development would take almost double the price of any hybrid app.
  • Frequent Updates: A native app needs to be frequently updated for all the bugs and fixes that occur dedicatedly. Also, there are so many updates that are related to OS updates and much more needs to be amended. It makes sure that the native app you have created is up to the market standards.

Can PWAs replace Native App in the Future?

Well, it depends entirely on the future whether the PWAs will be capable of replacing a native app or not. Although, for now, it is a secure and viable option for having something that is platform-independent. It can also be made at a much cheaper price in comparison to an app. Also, as we have discussed before, it provides a superior user experience in comparison to many apps. Therefore, no doubt that much of the entrepreneurs might think of getting a PWA instead of a native app.

Although, there are limitations to a PWA. A PWA can access some of the hardware but not all. It is still tied to its web framework. Also, most of these PWAs are supported by modern browsers although for the legacy ones they are simply not compatible. Therefore, replacements of apps with a PWA seems like a possibility although since it is not that efficient as per today, it is still an anticipated question of whether PWAs can replace native apps or not.

So this was our argument over the topic of whether PWAs can replace native mobile apps or not. It is still a difficult question because work is being done in every hemisphere. Although, one sure thing is that the websites of tomorrow will be completely replaced by PWAs. In case, if you need anyone to develop a PWA for you then maybe we can help. To send us an enquiry mail us at sales@agicent.com. We have also written an article over Progressive Web Apps and SEO, therefore, to check it out click on the link provided. We hope this article may have been of some help to you. Also, thank you for reading it until the end.

It is something that not everyone can understand, although there is no point of having HTML without CSS. CSS initially had only 50 styling options but even that was enough for the time. Now the time has changed and it is essential to have more customizable options. Although, the great news is that the level-4 of CSS has dropped. Therefore, if you wish to know a little something about CSS and its recent level read down our article below.

What is Cascading Style Sheet(CSS)?

Cascading Style Sheet is used for presentation purposes of all HTML elements on a webpage. It is among the holy trinity of UI development while the other two are namely HTML and Javascript.

The style sheet language is used to create clean layout giving personal customisations to things like fonts and colors. A web page basically looks like a bunch of text without its inclusion. By using CSS, we are making our content more accessible and clean where each of the elements can be distinguished from each other with ease. It also provides way more control over the presentation of your website and use a single attribute on multiple elements using a single CSS tag.

This makes the styling of similar markup pages highly customisable. It in fact has separate rules for designing the mobile web page. The specification of the style sheet language is maintained by the World Wide Consortium(W3C). It is also among the maker of this particular language. The language is entirely free and W3C maintains the entire CSS validation service for the CSS documentation.

Importance of CSS in UI Development

Before CSS came into existence each of the webpages on the internet were designed using HTML markup language. This basically has limitation as one has to go to each and every element to start customisation. Also, the layout on the websites were not impressive enough and didn’t stand out from the rest of the web pages on the internet.

There are various aspects of a web page design.Those aspects can be named as fonts, background styles, borders, element alignment, and most importantly sizes. Before CSS, there were issues where it was not possible to provide a similar style to similar type of elements. For instance, the h1, h2, and h3 tags.

You wish to create a webpage and you decided to have a different font and color for the three given tags. Initially, one has to go through all the tags and change their color one by one. Although using CSS, it could be done more efficiently. All one has to do is to create a CSS file whether externally or make the changes in the style tag that can be declared at the top of the header. That would have applied all the changes you wanted with the tags.

For example:

<style>

h1 {

Color: red;

}

h2, h3 {

Color: black;

}

</style>

This will make the changes that you wanted with all those tags. Infact, the CSS properties can even be applied using a custom class. Although that is the lesson for advanced usage.

History of Cascading Style Sheet(CSS)

The first person to propose the use of CSS was Hakon Wium Lie. It was the collaboration of the duo Hakon and Tim Berners-Lee along with World Wide Web Consortium that made possible the release of the language on December 17, 1996.

CSS definitely had some advantage over the existing style sheet systems like DSSL and FOSI. With CSS, one can easily make changes to a couple of elements using the cascading style. Over time, the HTML grew and it required more stylistic changes to the webpages. CSS became popular because it was capable of delivering that required by UI developers. There have been definitive difficulties in adopting the system and making it mainstream. Although, for now it has become a crucial part of UI design without many of the times people and developers noticing it.

Different Version of Cascading Style Sheet(CSS)

CSS1

This was the first iteration of the style sheet language. It came with its own set of capabilities that were great for the time. Below are some of the capabilities that the first iteration offered.

  • Customisation of font properties like typeface and emphasis.
  • Easy alignment of elements such as font, table, images etc.
  • Capability to change the color of the background, text, and many other elements.
  • Alignment of different types of elements like fonts, text, images etc.
  • Attributes like Margin, border, padding, and positioning of most elements.

There are a variety of other properties that CSS1 had for the user to offer.

CSS2

The second iteration of the style sheet language in the year 1998 in the month of May. This one was obviously the better version of CSS1. It gave the developers capabilities like absolute, relative, and fixed positioning. It also gave the developers capabilities like z-index, inclusion of media types, aural style sheets etc. There was also bidirectional text and different properties for fonts.

There was another draft of CSS2.1 which was made with the intention of clearing out all the errors in the base version. A CSS2.2 version was also proposed although the work of it was kept on low priority.

CSS3

The earliest draft of the first version of CSS3 was dropped in the year 1999. It brought along with itself the concept of “modules”. The intention behind creating the modules was to expand the capabilities of the previous version. Also, this one was added new capabilities to the module.

CSS4

This is the latest version of the cascading style sheet that has been dropped. This version of CSS has been divided into various “level 4” modules. This is the reason there is no single integrated specification for the CSS4.

This iteration of the language has been developed on top of the previous levels. The level 4 attributes of the language comes with features like Image values, Backgrounds & Borders, and selectors. There are other really new and great modules that gives you entirely different capabilities for instance Flexbox.

The latest document has been dropped in the year 2018 starting from 2007.

Difference between CSS3 and CSS4

If we speak up with an open mind then the fact of the matter is that there really isn’t any CSS3 or CSS4. After the CSS2.1 got iteration once again and came up with new features both of the lateral entries were called such by the community. Also, there is no as such difference CSS3 or CSS4.

With the modules approach of CSS3, the makers of the language wanted to make the UI developers more independent. That led to the creation of modules where the developer can work independently with each feature.

This gave makers the advantage of updating the language as per their choice. Since all of the features were divided with modules then for example the makers could independently work on improving the module for font style. This gave advantage as now the makers could actually offer things that were more aligned as per the needs of the current scenario.

Therefore, in reality there is no CSS3 or CSS4. Infact, it would be accurate to call them level-3 or level-4. Although even that is purely with context to the degree by which the elements that were used in the CSS1 have been updated. For instance, Flexbox was never a thing until the CSS2.1. Therefore, when the feature was finally added what people say CSS3 then Flexbox was actually on level-1 and it being updated to level-2.

Advantages of Using CSS4

The major advantage that the UI developers are having by using the CSS4 iteration or level-4 CSS is in the case of selectors. They are not new and have been in use since the first iteration. Although, they get you more control and the ease of use has also increased from previously. Therefore, to know more about the greater advantage they are bringing on the table read down below:

Logical Combinators: There are basically two logical combinators that we will be talking about i.e :matches and :not. The “:matches” lets you define different definitions for single tag and allow you to use it all in one go. For example:

ul.features li a:matches(:link, :hover, :visited, :focus) {

   color: red;

}

Talking about the “:not” combinator this serves the purpose of pseudo negation can be used to apply to apply on multiple parameters just like “:match”.

Location Pseudo Classes: The two combinators that will be talked about in this section will be “:Any-Link” and “:Local-Link”. By using  “.Any-Link” combinator, the developer is making sure that all the elements of similar type will share similar attributes. For example:

H1:any-link {

Color: red;

}

The combinator will be the “:local-link”. This one will be making changes to all the local elements within a parenthesis. It is quite useful and very cool to use this feature since it gives you utmost control on the elements.

Time-Dimensional Pseudo Classes: This one also inscribes a couple of great selectors that can make your easy. It is great if you need selector for screen reader. The changes that will be made by the selector would be time dependent. For instance, if you want the color or h1 tag or anchor tag to change after a while then this type of selector can be easily used.

UI State Pseudo Classes: These can be used during the time when the state of the UI element is indeterminate. These selectors will allow the user to get the default state and react & respond accordingly.

Tree-Structured Pseudo Classes: This type of pseudo selectors helps you to pinpoint the element on which you wish to make changes. It is a great tool if mixed with the “:match” selector. Also, these give you the capability of customization at each nth element inside a tree.

Grid Structural Pseudo Classes: This one gets you some great selectors for the table that are used for the web pages. These can give you much control over the rows and columns. Some of the best selectors to use in this segment would be the :column, :nth-column, nth-last-column etc.

Parent Selectors: By far the most important selector that is provided along with level-4 package. This allows for you to easily style your elements at every parent node other than all the default places. There are some really great selectors in this category like .active, .StyleSwitcher etc.

Limitations of CSS4

The level-4 of the CSS is still tender, therefore, the limitations of the language can’t be estimated properly. Although, the moment we have sound ideas about it, we will be updating all that can be expected from the next iteration.

You’ve a web idea and now wondering that How much does it cost to build a website? Well the cost of web development starts from $ 500 (for a simple WP site) to $ 20 K (for a highly customized website that does awesome things like social networking or video streaming) or even more. But that’s a huge spread, right? So how do you know how much your “Web development project” will cost? Well, in this article we’ll help you identifying the “Size” and “Type” of your web project and its corresponding cost range with some easy examples and ideas.

As you may have seen before, we’ve written some in-depth articles on cost to create mobile apps before, there is even an app cost calculator must have popped up on this page by now . Now this post of ours is going to be our sincere effort to answer the question of How much does it cost to build a website?

Similar to the cost to develop an app a website development cost will also vary by website’s size, type, complexity and of course your budget and the developer’s location (offshore, nearshore, local). The web today is as smarter and smoother as it was never before. With the usage of advance and secure technologies and frameworks like angular, node.js, reactjs, vuejs, AI engines, chatbots blended with the power of AWS offerings – web today can practically do any function you want them to do and in fastest and most secure way.

All that you need is a solid team of web app developers (front end developers, backend developers, full stack developers), Web designers, and web testers to create and launch your web app.

There are majorly 3 ways that you can get your web application developed follows –

1. You do it yourself which is not always easier unless you know or learn web coding yourself. In order for your ot develop your web project yourself, you’ll need to learn technologies like angularjs, node.js or php, laravel and html, jss, jquery and be able to devote a lot (a lot!) of time in coding. This method is the most cost effective but not effective business wise since it takes a lot of your time that should be going into handling business side of the things.  Alternatively, you can install WordPress and utilize a page builder plugin to build your website without needing any coding skills.

2. Hire a web developer hourly basis you pay them as they work through your project. For a good web project you’ll need to hire one or all of following personnel –

Hire a Front end developer/ angularjs developer who knows html, jquery, css. (Starts from $ 18/ hour)
Hire a full stack developer (one who knows both angularjs, and nodejs and related technologies). (Starts from $ 22/ hour)
– Hire a Backend Developer/ Node.js developer who knows DB programming. (Starts from $ 18/ hour)
– Hire a PHP Developer/ Laravel Developer/ Codeigniter Developer in case you’re using a LAMP Stack. (Starts from $ 15/ hour)
– Hire a DevOps Engineer. (Starts from $ 30/ hour)
– Hire a UI/ UX Designer who creates design using photoshop or sketch. (Starts from $ 12/ hour)
– Hire a Web testing Engineer. (Starts from $ 12/ hour)

Please know that one person can’t usually do all what a web development project needs, and hiring a team on hourly basis can be really costly if you’ve not done it before. It works great for ongoing/ existing web projects when you know how to handle a team of web developers/ designers yourself or if you’ve a team of managers at your end. But if you’re a bootstrapping web or mobile startup then its not advisable to hire on hourly basis.

3. Hire Web Development Companies This is by far the best way to create your website most cost-effectively, faster, and professionally. You can hire a web development company in Noida on a fixed price fixed project basis and then they’ll take care of the rest. A web development company like Agicent will assign your project to a web team comprising of all kind of web developers, designers, and supervisors. You will be bothered about only the project delivery and not about managing the team for day to day work. You define your web features and get a fixed price from us and then we deliver as per the price.

Let us now discuss How much does it cost to build a website? using the 3rd method of Hiring a web development company in India on fixed price basis by dividing the website projects into several types and sizes with examples –

Category 1 – A simple wordpress website with simple design, 5 to 10 pages, only text and photographs and inquiry form, and may be a blog will cost $ 1000 to maximum $ 2000. Such sites usually take not more than 10 days to develop and needs no complex coding or database programming.

A good example of such simple website is this landing page website for SmartIRX Apps – https://www.smartirx.com/ . Some other similar landing page sites are https://www.rateyourfears.com/, https://pregmoapp.com/ .

Category 2 – A functional Web App that performs some functions more than just displaying text or video, may be an ecommerce cart made using magento or a small social network, or job search site, or a two way communication site between school and parents will cost you between $ 5000 to $ 10,000.

Such websites are useful, do some important functions as examples quoted above, and have a custom design and custom code implemented according to the specifications provided. These websites ain’t plug and play CMS driven websites, but intelligently crafted “web applications” that deal with data calculations, custom UI flows, databases and more. A good example can be A lawyer searching site like Accessq, or a news site like https://inshorts.com/en/read.

Category 3 – Highly functional web app with strong customized backend CMS, Admin Panel, and large dynamic content, such websites do everything like 2nd category web Apps PLUS they do more functions like handling user generated content, photos, pictures, editing of multimedia, handling various attributes of users profiles, makes sure content renders in best quality across desktop, mobile and tablets and what not. Even the backend admin of such sites are highly customized and not standard ones with features. Such websites cost anywhere from $ 12000 to $ 25000 and may be even more if work is of ongoing nature. A good example of such web application is https://www.wellcure.com or Doctor’s panel of https://www.smartirx.com/doctors/signup (Try signing up to see some functionality – its a comprehensive EMR panel for doctors!).

Category 4 Comprehensive Web projects that also sync with corresponding Mobile Apps, wearable apps and do everything that category 3 web apps do PLUS they handle more level of complex user data, enable more functionality for end users, and have a great degree of privacy and security settings for everyone. A good social network (not facebook the giant though) with large no of users with large number of functionality like a buy & sell site (like olx.in) or a real estate portal can be good examples. Such projects are ofcourse developed over time, and incur costs as they progress and not one time.

Category 5 Enterprise Web Applications – These custom web applications are usually made for the business users or Enterprise users to do highly specific IT jobs in order to solve any problem or to improve functioning of an organization. Even though there are many pre-packaged products for organizations to use for their operations and ERP needs, the requirement of a custom web application to solve your own “organization problems” will never go down. Such applications can cost as low as $ 2 K but most of the times they go beyond $ 10 K mark because of their unique nature, complexity, and problem solving capabilities. A warehouse can get a custom app created to keep a data of scanned boxes at each collection table or an organization will want to have a sales summary app created for their sales staff integrated with their existing ERP like SAP and so on.

Category 6 Custom Content Publishing tools and admin panels for websites and mobile apps and these are usually done as a part of the mobile app development project. A standard Admin panel may cost you $ 1500 to 2500 while an highly customized one can go to $ 5K or beyond. Users of such web applications are usually app or web admins so there is no big UI work needed, but ofcourse a lot of delicate logical work goes in here.

These are some of the most “common type of web projects categories” that we deal with almost regularly and which is why quoted these to answer the questions How much does it cost to build a website? However, each web project (or app project) is innovative and different in itself and therefore it is important to prepare a custom quote for a “custom web development project” instead of just putting a category label and pricing.
